A quarter of a century ago, Poles got the possibility of joining the group of most developed countries in the world. The political and economic freedom, which Poland regained exactly 25 years ago, was also the time when Inter Cars was born. The company, whose history began almost at the same time that the country stood on its new way. Change of the system, change in business operating principles and building free economy - it was all used by Inter Cars to full extent and with commitment. Today, the Company is one of the leaders in European and world automotive spare parts distribution markets. It is the hope for Polish business. And an example to follow. It has achieved much. It is reaching for even more. It is an example of a company, which was born from freedom and skilfully reforged entrepreneurial spirit into a real market success.
Business philosophy
The annual conference of Inter Cars Investor Relations took place on 4 June 2014 in Warsaw. This time with motto: "Parts compose the whole" one of the biggest automotive spare parts distributors in the world presented financial results of the company, reports from international markets, information on the market environment, realized investments and strategic plans for the future.
Double anniversary
- Today we have 25th anniversary of regaining independence. Also today we are meeting to present great financial results again. The Company which was established on the frames of regained economic freedom. The Company that could have never existed on the market and achieve European success without events, which took place a quarter of a century ago and which indirectly brought it into being - emphasized the CEO of the Company, Robert Kierzek during the meeting. Our Company would not have existed if it weren't for the change in political system, economic recovery and opening for the world. It is that events that Inter Cars owes success to - thanks to them we have a leading position in the country, Europe and the world - added founder of the Company, Krzysztof Oleksowicz.

An excellent summary of another year of activities is information which is important for every investor. On 3 June this year, by decision of the Council of Ministers, the Warmian-Mazurian Special Economic Zone has been extended to the area belonging to Inter Cars parcels in Zakroczym. And today the Company can officially confirm that this is the place where it will realize their most important investment. We are proud and very happy, that Polish companies can count on so valuable and active support of the government. Enjoying the 25 anniversary of regaining Poland's economic freedom and less than quarter-century existence of Inter Cars, we are also pleased that we are just here and right now - said during the conference, Robert Kierzek, President of Inter Cars SA.
Listed Company of the Year 2013
What was the year 2013 like when looking at the presence of Inter Cars on Polish Stock Exchange? - In May last year the company recorded the highest share price for over 5 years. Two months later the company broke another all-time-high and in October once again. It was recommended as one of the five companies, which are worth interest of investors. ( "What is worth to have in the portfolio" ), and one of the four, on which analysts bet - said Robert Kierzek, President of the Board of Inter Cars. Over 120 experts, interviewed by TNS Poland for "Puls Businesu" magazine praised Inter Cars for, among others, competence of management, investor relations and prospects for development and quality of products and services. As a result, the Company won the title of Listed Company of the Year 2013, going up by five places in the rank in comparison to the previous year. And it's all thanks to development strategy, which increases the market share of automotive parts distribution year by year and makes the Company one of the world's leaders of the industry. However, once you start you cannot stop. And you can seek satisfaction in a number of ways.
1st in Poland, 5th in Europe, 10th in the World
Looking at the size, Inter Cars is among top distributors of automotive spare parts: 5th place in Europe (the first in Poland and Central and Eastern Europe) and 10th in the world. With properly and successfully realized sales and logistic activities - the Company has real chances to multiply its revenue and strengthen its market position even within a single year! Is this a realistic forecast? Everything indicates that yes. The fleet of passenger cars in 35 countries in Europe is currently 309 million vehicles. According to forecasts - by 2015, their number will increase to 326 million. As the European car is approximately 8.5 years old today, the demand for automotive parts (and also services) will not decrease, but it will constantly be growing, generating huge income also in distribution industry. And in this industry Inter Cars is an unchallenged leader. And as Members of the Board of Directors of the Company say - Inter Cars is more than just a good product and good service. It is a proposal of business with passion. And that's the business that they have been running for years.
Cake only begun.. .
Automotive parts market in Europe is highly fragmented. What we have here is an unusual situation: five biggest distributors of automotive parts (among them Inter cars) have a share of just 5 percent of the market revenue! The other 95 percent belongs to countless number of small companies, which provide services, among other things, to the owners 309 million passenger vehicles. As one of the industry leaders, Inter Cars still has huge possibilities of development. It develops structure, increases the number of subsidiaries and improves logistic of goods. Also invests in facilities and infrastructure, developing support systems for garages. Thanks to this strategy the Company wants to grow its share of the market, in which none of the players have a significantly larger share than the other. Expansion on foreign markets and a huge increase in sales via e-commerce channels are a good forecast of a future success.
Success is in relationships
It all began in 1990. And as always - the beginnings were not easy. Seven years later the first warehouse was built and garage chain started operating. In the years 1998-1999 the first foreign company appeared in the structure. In the year 2000 we begun creating first first six branches, combined with intensive B2B activities and expansion to Eastern markets. On the turn of 2004 and 2005 the Company went public on Warsaw Stock Exchange, in 2006 reaching the first billion of sales revenue. After the following two years there was a very important merger with JC Auto. Then revenues went up, foreign subsidiaries were growing - until last year's title of Listed Company of the Year. - Success, however, is not being the market leader," says Krzysztof Oleksowicz. - This is an effect, not a cause. The real success are excellent business relationships, which Inter Cars built with suppliers and customers. The idea which stands behind it is a real partnership. Relations based on trust and sharing profits. This made us a leader. And I am really very happy that reflection of this idea, which was always my motto I can see today in my co-workers. They adapted this way of thinking. They made it an asset of the company. They created a community based on integrity, professionalism and innovation. Without them there would be no success.
We are chasing Western neighbours
Today, after 24 years of activities, Inter Cars has 157 domestic branches and 134 foreign subsidiaries. The latter recorded a 27-percent growth of sales in 2013 (and 17-percent increase on domestic market). Foreign markets are also the basis of a stable growth for the company. With market diversification the sales is constantly growing, and the company continues to develop. A high potential of each of the markets opens new sources of revenues, at the same time increasing the scale and pace of growth of the business. - We are prepared for a constant development of international infrastructure, and the future of the company is strongly connected with further European expansion - says Wojciech Twaróg. - In Western Europe on average there is 1 vehicle per two citizens, and in Central Europe it is around 0.5 vehicle. We estimate that over the next 10 - 15 years Central Europe countries will keep high dynamics of distribution, following western countries - he added.
PLN 3.5 billion revenue
Currently Inter Cars is a leader not only in Poland, but also in Slovakia. In Croatia it is second, third in Czech Republic and Romania.
Consolidated revenues of the Company in 2013 amounted to PLN 3.5 billion, share of foreign subsidiaries in sales revenues reached PLN 1.16 billion. To increase return on invested capital, Inter Cars systematically raises quality of service, responding to changing market demand in this respect and builds a consolidated purchasing power within the group and with external partners. - We are also developing a unique ecosystem of product range and services One Stop Shop, providing the largest product range, perfect distribution chain and transfer of knowledge - informs Witold Kmieciak, Member of the Management Board. Does this translate into real results? - Sellers in our branches answer daily 30 thousand phone calls from customers - he adds. That is probably the answer to the question about reaction of the market to activities carried out by us. And we receive tremendous energy for further dynamic development - stressed Mr Kmieciak.
People who create success
This year's conference summarizing another year of operations of Inter Cars took place with a motto: "Parts compose the whole". - In summary of 2013 we want to look at results of Inter Cars Group through the prism of those who work for those results on a daily basis: people of Inter Cars. We are a leading automotive spare parts distributor. We know how important is cooperation between seemingly independent elements, each of which has a specific role to play. And success in the Company is not only gained by the Board, but each of us has his own important part in it. Regardless of position held, the role within the organization, the level of decisiveness, etc. - says Wojciech Twaróg, Member of the Management Board.

Inter Cars Group offers automotive spare parts and accessories for all types of cars. Its product range also contains modern garage equipment. It provides fleet management services, logistic and marketing services, also produces semi-trailer (Feber) and deals in remanufacturing of parts (Lauber). It also develops on-line sales channels - in 2013 on-line orders amounted to 42 percent of revenues. Inter Cars websites are visited each month by 2 million unique users! There are almost 60 dedicated websites, and each was designed for other group of customers. Tens of thousands of automotive fans regularly use the corporate profiles in social media. Also investment in e-commerce market will allow to increase the area of operations of Inter Cars. 291 branches in the country and abroad create a great infrastructure and logistic chain for selling on-line. Human resources and possibilities of realization allow creating servicing and logistic centres, combining real world with real virtual world (e.g. points of free collection of ordered goods in bricks and mortar shops).
Unique solutions
The future of the industry is also advanced software. Therefore Inter Cars designs and implements integrated information systems: software for garages, which allow unrestricted access to database of goods, common tools for garage owners and employees and drivers. The software also allows to monitor the processes of repairing vehicles with insight in their history, as well as monitoring costs of repairs and maintenance. Original solution of Inter Cars designed for servicing end-customers allows you to use enhanced on-line reception, helps to combine products with services, and immediately (within seconds) respond to each submitted query. Safe motorization, wise education
Inter Cars does not just work on market expansion and observe carefully rankings of distribution industry. Investing in development it also invests in safety. It is not just a put-on show but a real commitment of socially responsible business. It is worth mentioning that Poland is the second country in Europe with the biggest number of road fatalities. Each year, technical faults of vehicles account for 6 percent of causes of accidents. And according to research, it appears that 1/5 drivers do not come to a MOT check in an appropriate time. This is why Inter Cars has implemented a system precisely identifying the Procedure of Correct Customer Service in garages, trained 13 thousand mechanics and founded employers' organization "MOVEO", which purpose is to protect the business of automotive market. Protecting quality and reliability of vehicle repairs, Inter Cars raises economic and legal security of small business entities, such as independent repair garages and vehicle control stations.
